Your body uses different types of tissue to meet its needs. For example, fatty tissue and muscular tissue are two completely different tissues. However, fat and muscles can be found together in your body.
Because mitochondria are found in every cell that converts food energy into something the body can use, they are your energy powerhouses. Fat is also stored near these mitochondria to be used as an energy source for strenuous exercise (for your hard-working muscles).
You’ll notice marbling on a steak. This is intramuscular fat, which is actually between and within muscle fibre cells. If there is a lot of marbling on a steak, it could signify that we are obese or have insulin resistance (pre-diabetes).
